Singletons Mill

Singletons Mill is near Laughtondale on the Hawkesbury River, close to Layburys Creek. The area falls under the jurisdiction of Hornsby Shire Council.

The original inhabitants were from the Dharug language group.

The area was named after Singleton's Water Mill, built in the 1820s by Benjamin and James Singleton, who obtained a grant of land there in 1821.

The mill was operated by the movement of the tides. The town of Singleton in the Hunter Valley was named after Ben Singleton.
