Katingal
Notorious and brutal maximum security prison block in Long Bay Prison that opened in 1975 and closed in 1978 after community protests and the Nagle Royal Commission recommended its immediate closure. The building was demolished in 2006. The name came from an Aboriginal word meaning separation from social control and rejoining the community.
