The Dictionary of Sydney was archived in 2021.
A house and estate at Ryde established by John Blaxland, the son of explorer Gregory Blaxland. The house was designed by John Bibb for Blaxland's family in 1841 and so named because Blaxland was known as the hermit within the family.
