Beverley Park

Residential and parkland suburb at the head of Kogarah Bay. In 1988, the National Trust of Australia (New South Wales) nominated part of it as a conservation area for its value as a rare example of a 1930s subdivision composed predominantly of Californian bungalows and for the quality of the streetscapes.

Part of the traditional country of the Kameygal people, the area that became Beverley Park ran into the wetlands of Kogarah Bay, and was used for market gardening for many years, as it was prone to flooding. It was reclaimed, drained and subdivided after 1937, using funds designed for unemployment relief.
