Pub near the corner of City Road in Chippendale which was designed by the prominent architect, Sidney Warden. It was designed to replace the original Lansdowne Hotel which was located opposite on the corner of Bay Street and Broadway. An article published in the Building Magazine in 1926 notes:
The design of this building expresses some points at once curious and original, and although there are features undoubtably open to criticism it still has others of commendable merit which give it a character all its own.
The pub became renowned for its live music scene, experiencing its heyday during the 1990s. After closing in 2015, it was intended to be developed into a private music and performing arts school, however, those plans were abandoned. The pub was renovated and re-opened once again in 2017 as a live music venue.
