Sheppard, Jasmin

Jasmin Sheppard is an Aboriginal woman with Irish, Chinese and Russian Jewish ancestry. Her Aboriginal heritage is from the Tagalaka and Kurtijar peoples of Normanton and Croydon in the Gulf of Carpentaria. Jasmin has a Diploma in musical theatre from The Dance Factory, Melbourne. From 2002–04 two she studied Contemporary Dance at NAISDA Dance College. Jasmin worked as a dancer, choreographer and singer on the 2006 Curious Works production, The Migrant Project and Vicki Van Hout's, Wiradjurni. Since joining Bangarra in 2007, Jasmin has performed in True Stories, Mathinna, Fire: A Retrospective, of earth & sky, Belong, Terrain, and 2013's Blak. In 2012 she performed in Stephen Page's Warumuk: In the Dark Night, part of the Australian Ballet's 50th Anniversary production, Infinity. Jasmin's first choreographic work, Macq, debuted as a part of Bangarra's Dance Clan 3 in 2013. Jasmin writes the Dancer's Blog for the Bangarra Dance Theatre Australia
