Thorne, Ross

Ross Thorne is an architect who has conducted his own private practice while lecturing and researching the social and architectural history of Australian theatre and cinema buildings at the University of Sydney since 1961. He was appointed associate professor in 1973. His research specialties include theatre and cinema buildings and their audiences, office, recreation and housing. He was awarded a doctorate in architecture in 1997 and is currently attached to Sydney University's Department of Performance Studies, where he is engaged on a social history of the Queen's Theatre in Adelaide.
