Parramatta Park

Core territory of the Burramatta clan of the Darug people, the land that became Parramatta Park was the site of the first successful farm in the colony, and became the government domain in Parramatta. Since 1858, the park has been set aside for public use and it remains an important community space.

Australia Day

Public holiday marking the landing of the first fleet in Port Jackson, celebrated in Sydney throughout the nineteenth century as Anniversary Day, and gradually taken up by other states after Federation. The public holiday has been held on 26 January nationwide since 1994.

Parramatta

Western suburb built on the land of the Burramattagal people. Sydney's second European settlement, it began as a government farm in 1788 and has many heritage listed sites. It is now the commercial hub of Greater Western Sydney.

Parramatta Park

Significant colonial landscape which was settled as a Vice Regal domain until a large public park was created in 1858. It remains a valuable place for recreation, social and cultural activity.
