The Dictionary of Sydney's summer newsletter went out to subscribers last week, with news, reviews and more. If you missed it, you can still catch up right here, and subscribe to future issues here. The past year has seen many changes to the Dictionary and we'd like to thank all of our amazing volunteers, supporters, contributors, collaborators, partners, colleagues, and especially our readers, for their expertise, encouragement and patience. We're looking forward to bringing you more Sydney history in the coming year. We'll be back on 2SER Breakfast with Nic Healey on January 17, but until then you can always browse through previous posts and links to audio from 2SER on the blog and you're sure to find something intriguing on the Dictionary itself. If you'd like to listen to more history over summer, 2SER have just launched a special podcast series The Folded Lie, that looks at a killing that took place in Sydney during the Great Strike in 1917. A man was shot dead, the gunman walked free, two bystanders were jailed and the government buried the story. How and why did this happen? Listen and subscribe here. There are lots of other great history podcasts and radio programs around at the moment as well, and we'll keep sharing links to these via our social media streams. Two other Australian history audio series that may appeal to Dictionary readers are: Shooting the Past, from Dr Clare Wright on ABC RN. Each episode features an historical event or era, and starts with a single photograph and the question; what is going on in this picture? Find online here. and GLAMCity on on 2SER with Tamson Pietsch and Anna Clark from the Australian Centre for Public History at the University of Technology Sydney. Listen to past episodes here. We hope all our readers have a happy and safe summer. See you in 2018!
