Formerly the Tradesmen's Arms, it was the favourite drinking hole of madam and sly-grog queen Tilly Devine as it was located just opposite her main brothel at 253 Liverpool Street, Darlinghurst. Also frequented by other criminal figures such as Guido Calletti it became known as 'The Bloodhouse' because of the violent scenes which often erupted there. It was then named East Village Hotel before it became Darlo Village Hotel.
