Berowra Heights

Berowra Heights is in Hornsby shire, to the north of the suburb of Berowra and to the west of Berowra Valley Regional Park.

The Aboriginal name Berowra is commonly believed to mean 'place of many winds', but it could also mean 'shell middens'. [1] Before the arrival of Europeans, Berowra Valley formed the boundary between the Ku-ring-gai people to the east, and the Dharug people to the west. [2]

In 1973, after continuous population growth, the suburb of Berowra was divided into two postal areas, Berowra 2081 and Berowra Heights 2082. The new suburb already had an independent identity with the establishment of Berowra Heights Hotel in 1970, and the opening of Wideview Public School in 1969, which complemented the existing Berowra Public School.

Berowra Market Place was established at Turner Road in 1984, giving Berowra Heights its own shopping centre. [3]
