Stella Maria Sarah Miles Franklin was an Australian writer and feminist. She established the Miles Franklin Literary Award for literature through a bequest on her death. It is awarded each year to a novel which is of the highest literary merit and presents Australian life in any of its phases. Her papers and diaries are held by the Mitchell Library, State Library of New South Wales.

Small weatherboard Federation cottage in southern Sydney, notable for being the home of writer Miles Franklin and her parents until 1954.

Carlton

Southern residential suburb, which developed after the railway reached nearby Hurstville in 1884. The name of Forest Road comes from the area once being heavily timbered.
