Work bans placed on specific sites for environmental or conservation reasons, part of a campaign carried on from the 1970s by the New South Wales Builders Labourers Federation in support of residents' groups.

Builders Labourers Federation

Union formed to improve safety, working conditions and wages for the least skilled building workers. During the 1970s the BLF placed 'Green Bans' on socially undesirable demolition or development, and without builders' labourers the work could not proceed.
