Horton, Warren
Warren Horton was a respected senior member of the library profession in Australia. He began his career in the Public Library of New South Wales in 1957 and served as Deputy State Librarian 1975-1981. He served as State Librarian of Victoria 1981-1985 and as Director-General of the National Library of Austraia 1985-1999. The Australian Library and Information Association awarded him a Fellowship in 1985 and the HCL Anderson Award in 1992. He was made a Member of the Order of Australia for services to librarianship in 1992, and was awarded honorary doctorates by LaTrobe University and the University of Canberra.
