Schell, Frederic

American artist who supervised the illustration of Andrew Garran's 'Picturesque Atlas of Australasia', contributing works himself and commissioning illustrations from other artists. He had worked on 'Picturesque Canada' before being appointed to the Atlas, and was an illustrator and art director on American magazines including Harper's Weekly & Frank Leslie's Illustrated News.
