Smeathman, Henry Osborne Green
The son of Sydney Coroner Major CT Smeathman and his wife Eliza, Henry Smeathman became William Bland's stepson in 1846 when his widowed mother remarried. Until then he had been working as a registrar and clerk in Berrima, but after the marriage he lived in Sydney and trained under Bland as a physician. In 1848 he married actor Sarah Rookes and became the stepfather of her daughters Isabelle, Fanny and Agnes. He followed his wife and her daughters to Amercian in 1856, where he was ordained in the Episcopal Church. He was killed in an attack by Native Americans on the American frontier in Nevada in 1864. Agnes married Junius Brutus Booth in 1867.
