North-eastern residential suburb, south west of Narrabeen Lagoon. Formerly Dee Why West, it takes its name from Cromer Golf Club, which succeeded in having the suburb renamed in 1964.

After colonisation, Cromer, originally known as Dee Why West, developed slowly from farms and bush, remaining semi-rural until the 1960s. Industrial and residential development led to more services and community facilities, but some bushland remains.
