Old Belmore Markets

Produce market established on Campbell Street east of the present site of the Capitol Theatre. Named for Sir Somerset Lowry-Corry, the Earl of Belmore, the Governor of New South Wales from 1868 to 1872.

Urban locality in southern part of central business district. Named for the markets of the nineteenth century, it is still home to Paddy's Market as well as Chinese, Thai, Korean and Indonesian communities.
