Peats Ferry

George Peat established a ferry service across the Hawkesbury around 1840, which was eventually joined to Pearces Corner by road, providing a new route to Newcastle. In 1945 the ferry was replaced with a road bridge.

River that runs for 120 kilometres from the confluence of the Nepean and Grose rivers west of Sydney to Broken Bay north of Sydney. The Darug and Darkinjung people who lived along the river called it Dyarubbin.

Peats Ferry

Area around the ferry which operated across the Hawkesbury near Brooklyn until 1945. The ferry had been established in 1840 by George Peat.
