Tranter, Hugh

Hugh Tranter is a history graduate from the University of Sydney with an ongoing interest in researching the early years of European settlement in Australia. He is researching the communication that took place between NSW and England and the way news was conveyed both ways about scientific discoveries, frontier conflict and the crossing of Blue Mountains etc and world events.

Second Fleet commemoration plaque, The Rocks

A small plaque near Cadman's Cottage in The Rocks is the only Sydney memorial to the arrival of the second group of colonists to enter Port Jackson.

Suburb located north of the central business district on the western shore of Sydney Cove. Characterised by a precinct of restored nineteenth-century buildings which are a major tourist attraction, it was recognised as a separate suburb in 1993.

Bronze plaque on sandstone plinth erected in the Rocks to commemorating the arrival of the Second Fleet in 1790.
