Stella Maria Sarah Miles Franklin was an Australian writer and feminist. She established the Miles Franklin Literary Award for literature through a bequest on her death. It is awarded each year to a novel which is of the highest literary merit and presents Australian life in any of its phases. Her papers and diaries are held by the Mitchell Library, State Library of New South Wales.

The Book of the Waratah Cup, 1902-1908, 1944-1954

Guest book belonging to Miles Franklin, who asked her guests to sign it when they were visited her at home and were served tea in her waratah cup. It is now held in the Mitchell Library.
