Luna Park Ghost Train fire 1979

The fire that broke out in the Ghost Train ride at Luna Park on the evening of 9 June 1979 claimed the lives of seven people.

Fire which destroyed the Luna Park Ghost Train ride on the night of 9 June 1979, killing six children and one adult. The cause of the fire has never been established.

Luna Park

Amusement park built on the site of the Dorman Long workshops at Milsons Point after the Sydney Harbour Bridge was completed in 1932. It closed in 1979 after a fatal fire on the Ghost Train ride, but reopened in 1982.
