Maley, Alfred James
Criminal figure romantically linked to prostitute Maisie Matthews in 1937. In a case that was widely publicised, Maley attacked the petty thief and sly-grog seller, Iris Webber, with a razor after a fight with Matthews. Webber fatally wounded Maley with a pea rifle and was charged with murder, though she was later acquitted.
