Statutory body established by the National Parks and Wildlife Act 1967, with responsibility for national parks, state parks and historic sites in New South Wales, including a number in Sydney. In 2003 the Service became part of the Department of Sustainable Natural Resources, later the Department of Environment, Climate Change and Water.
