Combes, Edward

Engineeer, politician and painter who trained in Paris and contributed to the development of colonial public works and education policy. His artistic skill lead to him directing the art section of the Garden Palace Exhibition in 1879 and was instrumental in the foundation of the Art Gallery of New South Wales.
