Kinchela, John 1810-1849
Son of the Attorney-General of NSW who became a clerk in the crown solicitor's office and then in March 1837 was appointed police magistrate at Bathurst through his father's influence.He resigned from that post in May 1838. He famously publicly horsewhipped James Mudie after Mudie ridiculed Kinchela's father in 'The Felonry of New South Wales'.
