Tompson, Charles
Son of a convict who was educated at Reverend Henry Fulton's parish school at Castlereagh. His verse was first published in 1823 and a volume 'Wild Notes from the Lyre of a Native Minstrel' appeared in 1826 - the first by an Australian born poet.
