River flats where the lands of the Guringai and the Dharug met, the area that became Crosslands Reserve was inhabited by Burton Crossland from the 1850s, a timber-cutter, boat-builder and fisherman, who also built houses. Later a picnic spot, the reserve is managed by Hornsby Council.
