Macquarie Wall

Convict era sandstone wall in the Royal Botanic Gardens. Walls were built to Governor's Macquarie's specifications around the Governor's Demesne between 1812 and 1816 to protect both the Governor's privacy and the enclosed farms and gardens. The remaining portion runs through the eastern side of the garden between the Middle and Lower Gardens, from the watercourse up to Lion Gate Lodge at Mrs Macquarie's Road.
