Originally the land of the Wangal clan, Homebush Bay emerged from the industrial pollution of the twentieth century with the construction of Sydney Olympic Park and one of Sydney's newest suburbs.

Empire Games 1938

International sporting competition held at the Sydney Cricket Ground and various other Sydney venues in February 1938, timed to coincide with the 150th anniversary of the founding of the colony at Sydney. Over 450 athletes from 15 countries participated in over 70 events, and Australia won the medal tally.

Greenwich Village Games

Community based games event held in the suburb of Greenwich in December of each Olympic year. Eight teams compete in over twenty events for winning points and local glory.
