Artists' camps

Sydney's artists' camps flourished around the harbour from the 1880s until the 1910s, allowing young artists to live cheaply together and paint their surroundings in the open air.

Cataract Scout Park

160 hectare bush camping area at Appin which is owned and operated by Scouts NSW.

Bushland camping area on the eastern shore of Little Sirius Cove used by artists in the 1880s and 1890s.

Frog Hollow

Depression camp at the northern end of the beach at Frenchmans Bay near the Aboriginal reserve at La Perouse, where many Aboriginal people moved during the 1930s. It later housed new migrants after World War II.
