AMP Building

Post War International style office building which at 25 storeys was the first to officially break the 1912 Sydney height of Buildings Limit of 150 feet and thus become the tallest building in Australia at the time of its construction.

Australian Mutual Fire Insurance Society Building

Victorian Free Classical style office and retail block built for an insurance business on the site of the Surry Arms Hotel. With a fine modelled stone facade and well articulated corner elevation design, it has been a city landmark for over 100 years. In the 1970s it had housed Grahame Book Company, a prominent publishing house from the 1940s to the 1980s.

Colonial Mutual Life building

Commercial building in Martin Place, built at the time of the widening and improvement of the street, which housed tenants including the Sydney Stock Exchange and the United States consulate. In 1976 it became one of the earliest examples of a modern redevelopment retaining the original building facade.

Offices built for the Equitable Life Assurance Society of America designed by their visiting architect Edward Raht in American Romanesque style. It incorporated significant overseas construction techniques from the turn of the century including terracotta floors and marble slab floors.
