First of the famous snake men who set a tradition for showmanship at the Snake Pit. He was also determined to gain recognition for his snake bite 'antidote'. Demonstrating in Calcutta in 1914 Fox allowed a deadly krait to bite him. However, one bite was inadvertently left untreated and he died within hours.

Frackelton, William Scott

Minister for the Randwick parish from 1885, preaching at the town hall before he became the first minister at the Randwick Presbyterian Church when it was built in 1889-90. He moved to Brisbane, Queensland in 1896. No stranger to controversy, he was once dubbed by a Sydney newspaper 'Frackelton the Fanatic' and in 1908-09, he made national headlines when he took legal action against the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Queensland in the state's Supreme Court.

Explorer and early agitator for women's rights. Lady Jane Franklin was married to Sir John Franklin, Lieutenant Governor of Van Diemen's Land between 5 January 1837 and 21 August 1843. In 1839 she travelled overland from Melbourne to Sydney, possibly the first woman to do so.

Stella Maria Sarah Miles Franklin was an Australian writer and feminist. She established the Miles Franklin Literary Award for literature through a bequest on her death. It is awarded each year to a novel which is of the highest literary merit and presents Australian life in any of its phases. Her papers and diaries are held by the Mitchell Library, State Library of New South Wales.

Freehill, Patrick

Well known baker who operated from 109 George Street, Sydney during the mid-1800s. He came to Sydney as an assisted immigrant and helped many other Irish migrant families settle in the colony. His sons became solicitors and established one of the largest law firms in Australia, Freehills. He was involved in various Catholic causes in Sydney including attending the meeting instigated by Archbishop Polding to establish St John's College, where he contributed 100 pounds, as well as subscribing to the upkeep of St Mary's Cathedral.
