Collingridge Point
Collingridge Point is located on the western shore of Berowra Creek in Hornsby Shire. Before the arrival of the Europeans, the valley of Berowra Creek marked the boundary between the Kuring-gai people to the east, and the Dharug people to the west. [1]
The point is named after George Collingridge (1848–1931). Collingridge was an English-born artist, writer, and adventurer who settled there in 1880 when it was virtually inaccessible. He built a house on the point with the intention of founding an artists' colony. His writings and artwork contributed to Berowra becoming a popular resort. [2]
