Lindsay, Philip

Born in 1906, author Philip Lindsay was the youngest child of Norman Lindsay’s marriage to Katie Parkinson. Philip was born in Lavender Bay, Sydney, but after the breakdown of his parents' marriage was raised and educated in Brisbane.

He returned to Sydney with his mother and eldest brother in 1921, and soon became involved in the local literary scene. He lived in Sydney until 1929 and many of his memories of this time were published in his 1941 autobiography, I’d Live the Same Life Over: Being the Progress, or Rather the Circumgyration of Philip Lindsay.

After moving to England in 1929 he became a prolific author of historical fiction. He died of a respiratory disease at Hastings on 4 January 1958.
