Large statue of Pyrmont sandstone which is an exact replica of that in ancient Athens in 334BC which was constructed as part of a dramatic prize.
Originally in the garden of James Martin's home Clarens at Potts Point, it was moved to the Botanic Garden in 1941 when the garden was requisitioned for a dry dock.
