Nepean, Nicholas

Marine and army officer who arrived in Sydney aboard the Second Fleet transport, Neptune. He was in charge of the first detachment of the New South Wales Corps and, until the arrival of Major Francis Grose, he was the corps' commanding officer. He quarrelled with John Macarthur on the voyage to Sydney, who attempted to have Nepean court-martialled before Grose settled their dispute.
