Wilson, William (1863 -1935)
Irish orphan who arrived in Australia in about 1880 as a teenager and became a prominent resident of Greenwich. After training as a carpenter, Wilson purchased land in Newtown and built workers' cottages. About 1902 he bought land in Greenwich and built his Federation house Wilona, where he lived with his family. A Government contractor and builder, he was responsible for the construction of a number of freezing works in New South Wales and Queensland.
