Commemorative plaque that was installed on the site of the York Street Synagogue between 1984 and 1988 as part of the Sydney Green Plaques Bicentennial project.
Lindsay, Raymond
Raised in Brisbane, Raymond Lindsay followed his brothers to Sydney in 1921and trained at the Julian Ashton art school. He became a painter of historical paintings, and later an art critic.

Lane Cove local government area
Area of 11 square kilometres on Sydney's north shore governed by Lane Cove Council. It is named after the river surveyed by Lieutenant William Bradley in 1788.
Field of Mars Wildlife Reserve
Reserve in northern Sydney measuring 56 hectares and containing around 300 plant species which support an even greater diversity of animals, from spiders to possums and birds.

Brad Duncan is a maritime archaeologist with 30 years experience in the field. He is a Research Associate with University of Sydney and currently works for the NSW government.

Gordon, Lee Lazer
American-born entrepreneur and music promoter who moved to Australia in the 1950s and brought popular American entertainers to Sydney, including Frank Sinatra and Bill Haley and the Comets.
Windeyer, Charles
Magistrate and police superintendent. He served as the first Mayor of Sydney in the period between the city's incorporation in August 1842 and the first elections in November.
Goold, Stephen Styles
House painter and building contractor who lobbied for Protestant political organisations and greatly expanded Masonic membership, despite his Jewish ancestry. He served as Mayor of Sydney in 1874.
Darlington Municipal Council
Council created to provide amenities for Darlington residents as the suburb was subdivided from the mid nineteenth century. The area became part of City of Sydney in 1949.
Woronora River
River that flows north from near Helensburgh to meet the Georges River between Como and Illawong. The Woronora dam in the river's southern reaches provides water for Sydney.
Anniversary Day Regatta
Annual regatta, held on 26 January on the Parramatta River. The first was held in 1837 and this was a major event in Sydney's sporting calendar by the 1850s.
Rookwood Bicycling Club
Cycling club formed in 1901 which ran weekly road and course races. By 1906, at the height of the cycling craze it was the largest club in Sydney.
Scott, Thomas Hobbes
Anglican minister in western Sydney in the 1820s who became close to the Macarthur family. He was a tireless worker and did much to promote education in the colony.
