L'Estrange, Henri
Aeronaut and funambulist, L'Estrange was one of the daring performers attempting unheard-of feats in Sydney during the 1870s and 1880s. Though not always successful, his exploits were usually both exciting and spectacular.
Cadman's cottage
Possibly designed by Francis Greenway, Cadman's cottage housed John Cadman, government coxswain, from 1827 until 1845. It was subsequently used by the Water Police and the Sydney Sailors' Home, and is now a museum.
Darlington
Inner-city suburb beside the University of Sydney which is fast encroaching upon it. Originally the site of Thomas Shepherd's nursery in the 1820s which is commemorated in many of the street names.
General Post Office
From convict beginnings, the General Post Office was to re-emerge in the 1860s in Italian Renaissance grandeur when James Barnet created an enduring centrepiece for Sydney.

Crown Matrimonial
Drama based on the romance between David, Prince of Wales and Wallis Simpson and the ensuing abdication. It has been performed numerous times in Sydney, including at the Mayfair Theatre in 1978.
Petersham reservoir
Covered water reservoir commissioned to supply western Sydney and Illawarra suburbs after the completion of the Upper Nepean Scheme. It was integrated into an elevated reservoir on the same site in 1965.
Blue Mountains
Part of the Great Dividing Range west of Sydney, reaching a height of 1100 metres. In 1829 the name for the area used by the local Aboriginal people was recorded as being Colomatta .
Rozelle Bay
Small bay east of Blackwattle Bay in Sydney Harbour, surrounded by Rozelle, Annandale and Glebe. Much of the natural shoreline of the bay has been extended by land reclaimed for maritime use.
Kurraba Point
Small residential suburb on the headland south of Neutral Bay in North Sydney local government area. Known for its many apartment buildings constructed since the 1940s, it was declared a suburb in 2010.
South Head
Southern headland marking the entrance to Port Jackson which, since colonial times, has been an important location for civil and military maritime activities, and is now part of Sydney Harbour National Park.
Gore Hill Cemetery
Cemetery established in 1868 in St Leonards. It is one of the oldest and largest cemeteries in Sydney and contains many remnants of the Devonshire Street Cemetery which was cleared in 1901.
Longbottom Government Farm
Timber yard and rest area for convict work parties travelling between Parramatta and Sydney established by Governor Grose. At over 700 acres it covered much of the site of present day Concord.
Lane Cove River
Tributary of the Parramatta River, which rises near Thornleigh, flows south and drains to Port Jackson east of Greenwich Point. There are significant mangrove communities near where the river meets Sydney Harbour.
Australian Railway Historical Society
Australian Railway Historical Society began in Sydney in 1933 as the Great Railway Circle of Australia. The society's primary role is to encourage the study and enjoyment of Australian railway history.
