Huon de Kerilliau, Gabriel
French aristocrat who arrived in Sydney with the New South Wales Corps in 1794 and was subsequently a tutor to the Macarthur family and a pastoralist at Narellan.
Mak, Sai Ying 麥世英
First known Chinese born settler in Sydney who worked as a publican, carpenter and builder in the Parramatta district. He was also known as John 麥世英 Shying.
Engine Pond
Dam constructed by Simeon Lord on the watercourse draining into Botany Bay. It is now traversed by Southern Cross Drive just east of Sydney Airport runway.
Prout's Bridge
Contentious bridge constructed across the Cooks River at Canterbury to enable easy access to Sydney markets. The imposition of a toll however was to divide the community.
Rushcutters Bay
Bay about two kilometres east of Sydney Cove so named because convicts cut rushes there for thatching. Now noted as the site of a major harbour marina.
Cumberland College of Health Sciences
Teaching college for physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, orthoptics and post-registration nursing. In 1990 it became the Faculty of Health Sciences within the University of Sydney.
Bonnet Bay
Suburb on the eastern shore of the Woronora River in Sydney's south, named for The Bonnet, a cave in the area, shaped like an old woman's bonnet.
