Unwin's Bridge

Bridge originally constructed by convict labour in 1836 for Frederick Wright Unwin across the Cooks River at Bayview Avenue, Tempe. It was replaced by the present bridge in 1891.

Upper Canal

Canal constructed as part of the Upper Nepean Scheme in 1888 to bring water from the Nepean, Cordeaux and Cataract Rivers to Prospect reservoir.

Upper Nepean Scheme

Dams and canals constructed on the Nepean and Cataract Rivers after a Royal Commission in 1867 sought a solution to Sydney's water shortages. The scheme remains in use today.

Victoria bridge Penrith

Wrought iron box plate girder bridge that crosses the Nepean River at Penrith. The building of the bridge allowed the railway that had previously terminated at Penrith, to reach the Blue Mountains.

Victoria Mills

Flour mill at the foot of Bathurst Street adjacent to Grose's wharf, owned by J T Hughes and leased to J H Grose. The building partly collapsed on 3 September 1841 into the swamp below, causing major damage and loss.

Victory in the Pacific Memorial Wall and Fountain

Blue wall and fountain in front of Holroyd City Council building dedicated 60 years after the victory in the Pacific to commemorate 44 service personal from the Holroyd area who served and died in World War II.

Vietnam War Comradeship Memorial

A sunken area in the park with a fountain and pond which has a bronze statue of two soldiers, one Australian and one Vietnamese. The sculptor was Do Trong Nhon.

Wharves along Hickson Road which form part of an historical port precinct comprising sheds, bond stores and bridges carved from the sandstone cliff of Dawes Point. Built of turpentine piles with ironbark beams the wharves have been converted for use as theatre and arts venues and residential apartments.

Railway junction alongside Dulwich Hill Railway station that opened in 1916 as part of the goods line that ran to Glebe Island.

Wentworth Mausoleum

Private family mausoleum at Vaucluse where William Charles Wentworth was buried after his remains were returned to Australia after his death in England. The mausolem was commissioned by Sarah Wentworth at her husband's request. Originally part of the Vaucluse estate, it is now physically separated from Vaucluse House but is still considered part of the property.

Sporting complex developed for greyhound racing in the 1930s which is now utilised by a variety of sporting clubs and community organisations.

West Pymble Swimming Pool Centre

Municipal pool on Prince of Wales Drive in West Pymble, constructed when domestic swimming pools were still a rarity. The pool closed in 2012 for renovations and reopened in 2014 as the Ku-ring-gai Fitness and Aquatic Centre.

Western Channel Pile Light

An active pile lighthouse off Georges Head in Sydney Harbour marking the western end of Sow and Pigs Reef. A white timber and concrete structure with a copper dome, it was designed to match the existing Eastern Channel Pile Light. It was constructed in 1924 to replace an earlier, smaller beacon that had in turn replaced a lightship in 1912.

Food manufacturing factory and flour mill in Chippendale established by HL Bussell early in the twentieth century which operated until 1982 when it moved to Kingsgrove.

A sandstone memorial drinking fountain dedicated to the 'place of farewell' for World War I soldiers, established by their mothers and wives.

Memorial of red tiles with white border and inscription on the AIF memorial wall at Woronora Cemetery. The three commemorative plaques are for Boer War Nurses Ellen Julia Gould RRC, Penelope Frater, and Julia Bligh Johnston.

Woronora Dam

Dam which collects water from the catchment of the Woronora River, supplying water to the Sutherland Shire in Sydney's south. It covers over 4 square kilometres with a capacity of 71,790 megalitres.

Woronora Mill

Flour mill built on the Woronora River which avoided the duty paid by all Sydney based mills. Using the undershot principle the river water hit the wheel the wheel at it's base causing it to spin.

Ocean baths built at the southern end of Coogee Beach in the early twentieth century.

Zig Zag Railway

Railway which required four large cuttings and three stone viaducts to overcome an otherwise insurmountable climb up the eastern side of the Blue Mountains. Closed as a commercial line in 1910 it re-opened as a tourist railway in 1975.
